PANAMA is a new attractive tourist's destination for North Americans!!

Panama is a 75 640 km² State located in Central America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, between Colombia and Costa Rica. The country has a population a little over 3 039 000 people (july 2005)

 

Supported by the United States, Panama declared its independence from Colombia on November 3rd, 1903.

 

Panama's politics takes place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Panama is both head of state and head of government, and of a pluriform multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the National Assembly. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.

 

Panama's economy is service-based, heavily weighted toward banking, commerce, and tourism, due to its key geographic location. The handover of the canal and military installations by the USA in 1999 has given rise to new construction projects.

 

On October 22nd  2006, Panameans have decided through a referendum to stay competitive in the freight transportation industry by approving the construction of a third set of locks for the Panama Canal. This will generate the creation of almost 40 000 direct and indirect employment offering at the same time to the people of Panama the opportunity to benefit from this economic growth.

 

Investors will find conditions advantageous in this free zone market and with the low corporate tax rate.

 

The currency is the balboa, fixed at parity with the United States dollar. In practice, however, the country is dollarized; Panama mints its own coinage but uses US dollars for all its paper currency.

Real Estate in Panama

 

Panama City has seen a race between two rival projects aimed at becoming the tallest building in Latin America. But one of the two projects was cancelled. The other project, a 104-story residential and hotel building named Ice Tower, is slated to be completed in 2010.

 

There are more than 105 projects in Panama City where neighborhoods are experiencing a huge increase in the number of buildings. In San Francisco, for example, there are currently 25 new buildings being built.

 

Apart from the existing demand, future developments will also be helped by such factors as the planned expansion of the Panama Canal, a possible refinery and a new container port near the Pacific entrance of the canal.

The diversity of real estate in Panama is seemingly endless, offering an array of distinct climates, available activities and much more. Panama Real Estate includes, among others, beachfront property on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, high rise condominiums, mountain real estate, resort properties and residential developments.

Real estate in Panama is reasonably priced and the necessary processes to buy real estate in Panama are comparable those in other countries.

Panama is gaining rapid popularity abroad as a vacation and/or retirement destination, making investments in Panama real estate appealing to tourists, retirees and investors.
